New date announced for the 5th International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress

- ADTS and AF Comunicación Estratégica announced a new date for the 5th International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress, postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Santo Domingo, June 2020.- Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, president of the Dominican Health Tourism Association (ADTS), and Amelia Reyes Mora, president of AF Comunicación Estratégica, announced that the 5th International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress will be held on 2, 3 and 4 June 2021 at El Embajador, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, in Santo Domingo.

Dr. Cambiaso explained: “Today more than ever, we need to offer guarantees of compliance with health protocols to restore confidence, reactivate the economy and boost the different sectors of our nation. By working together and being innovative and resilient, we will overcome the obstacles we face and come out stronger.”
Likewise, Reyes Mora, president of AF Comunicación Estratégica, a firm specialising in Health and Health Tourism Communication, stressed: “We need to keep working together to consolidate our country brand and strengthen the Dominican Republic’s position as a competitive, reliable and safe health and tourism destination. We will keep moving forward in light of these new challenges; this is an opportunity to create a more entrepreneurial and favourable environment for everyone.”
Both experts said that as the tourism sector recovers, with the support of government, the private sector and a collective will for progress and sacrifice, the Dominican economy and medical tourism will also grow stronger.
The organisers of the event, which has become the leading event in the sector in Central America and the Caribbean, said this edition will include a space to encourage investment in new projects and will be aimed at leaders across the broad health tourism value chain: health centres, insurers, travel agencies, airlines, tour operators, hotels, the financial sector, government, transport, legal, pharmaceutical and education, among others.

Over its last two editions, it has brought together approximately 800 participants, around 70 speakers and more than 110 sponsors, who have helped keep raising innovation, competitiveness and quality standards in the Dominican Republic’s health and tourism services.
