Payless brings joy to 500 children in Santo Domingo and Santiago

The children benefited belong to the Learn and Grow program in Santo Domingo and the Fundación Red de Misericordia de Santiago.

Santo Domingo, December 2018.- The Christmas season is one of the best moments to give, and because of Payless ShoeSource’s firm commitment to the development of families and communities in which it has a presence, they donated 500 pairs of shoes to children of the Learn and Grow program and the Red de Misericordia Foundation of Santo Domingo and Santiago respectively.

“Our greatest satisfaction with this donation, which is being developed for the eleventh year in the Dominican Republic, is that children can enjoy a shopping experience in Payless, having the possibility to choose, try on and acquire the shoes they like and accommodate them, and thus be able to continue with their academic, sports or recreational activities,” said Denise Bernard, vice president of Payless Latin America and the Caribbean.

Likewise, the executive reported that Payless contributes around 5,000 children from Latin America and the Caribbean who will wear a pair of shoes this Christmas.

During an afternoon of joy and fun for the little ones, the bond delivery ceremony took place at the Payless store in Galería 360 to the Learn and Grow Program Coordinator, Solanye Pineda, and in Santiago at the Payless branch of PriceSmart to Itzel Díaz and Olga Arocha, of the Red de Misericordia Foundation, at an event attended by dozens of children representing the 500 beneficiaries.

According to Eric González, Payless country manager in the Dominican Republic, it is already a tradition to give back to the vulnerable communities in which they find themselves. “Sometimes children cannot participate in different types of activities due to lack of a pair of shoes, and it is our intention to provoke happiness in Dominican families and help improve the quality of life of hundreds of children in Latin America and the Caribbean, so they continue on the road to conquer their dreams,” he said.

This activity is part of the “Payless Gift Shoes for Children” campaign, which was launched in 2007 in Latin America and the Caribbean, as a Social Responsibility program, where Payless is linked to important social works that benefit children with limited resources in the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and other countries in the region.
