- PepsiCo extended its partnership with the UEFA Champions League until the 2023/24 season, with brands such as Pepsi, Lay's and Gatorade.
PepsiCo announced the extension of its partnership with the UEFA Champions League, the pinnacle of club football, for the 2021/22 – 2023/24 seasons. The continuation follows PepsiCo’s recent announcement of its multi-year, top-tier partnership with UEFA women’s football until 2025, giving it a major, unified presence in the prestigious football competition.
SodaStream© joins the starting line-up of PepsiCo brands for its UEFA Champions League activation, alongside the Pepsi® trademark – including Pepsi MAX – Lay’s® and Gatorade™. Doritos®, Ruffles®, Lipton® and 7UP® will also be part of it.
“Since we became sponsors in 2015, the PepsiCo and UEFA partnership has grown stronger and more exciting every year. It is now the largest global platform we activate on, with more than 100 of our markets enthusiastically taking part each season with best-in-class commercial programmes, from iconic packaging solutions and point-of-sale activations to engaging marketing campaigns with some of the best footballers supporting our brands,” said Ram Krishnan, PepsiCo Global Chief Commercial Officer. “The addition of SodaStream this year presents an opportunity to share our efforts to build a portfolio of options that go beyond the bottle and suit consumers’ individual preferences on a prominent global stage. We are energised and excited to continue this powerful partnership and to unite our consumers and customers through the world’s favourite sport and our treasured portfolio of foods and beverages.”
The partnership includes a focus on advancing environmental and equality causes, working together to deliver increasingly sustainable events and making recycling and plastic waste reduction a key priority. In addition, building on a high-impact programme that provided football facilities for refugees in Jordan, PepsiCo and the UEFA Foundation for Children will continue collaborating on programmes that harness the unifying power of football to serve communities in need.
Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA Marketing Director, said: “Since 2015, PepsiCo has become an integral part of the UEFA Champions League portfolio, and we are delighted to welcome them on board for another three-year cycle. PepsiCo is a trusted, innovative and influential partner, and we want to harness this energy and expertise to work together on a wide range of activations that will benefit football fans around the world in the coming years.”
A hallmark of the partnership is PepsiCo and UEFA’s commitment to continued and growing support for the UEFA Champions League Final Opening Ceremony presented by Pepsi. Since its inauguration in 2016, Pepsi has brought legendary live music performances to one of the biggest annual sporting events, offering unprecedented entertainment to fans at every Final.
