- The Dominican Society of Orthodontics has presented its new board, led by Dr Raúl Del Toro, with a commitment to strengthening the profession and its social outreach.
Santo Domingo, DR – At its recent Electoral Assembly, the Dominican Society of Orthodontics (SDO) presented the new board that will lead the organisation’s work over the coming period.
The management team is made up of professionals representing different regions of the country who share a firm commitment to institutional strengthening, ethical and scientific development, and the collective growth of the orthodontic community. It comprises Dr Raúl Del Toro, president; Dr Richard Jiménez, vice president; Dr Marie V. Morrobel, secretary; Dr Henry Adames, treasurer; Dr Franklin Ortega, board member; Dr Luciano Hernández, representative for the National District; and Dr Sarah Lora, representative for Santiago.
During their presentation, the new board thanked the society’s members for their confidence and acknowledged the legacy of excellence left by previous boards, on which they intend to build a stage of greater inclusion, participation and collaboration among members.
“We are committed to protecting and continuing to raise the quality of our profession. We want a united society with open doors, where everyone takes part and we grow together professionally,” said the new president of the SDO.
Its work agenda includes initiatives geared to continuing education, strengthening study groups, and driving scientific and professional activities for the benefit of the whole membership. In August, the social campaign “One child, one orthodontist” will also be officially rolled out, an initiative that seeks to bring orthodontic care to vulnerable communities and that plans to extend to Santiago in 2026.
