- ADTS and AF Comunicación Estratégica will launch the third edition of the Health and Wellness Tourism Guide in June to promote the Dominican Republic as a safe and competitive destination.
To strengthen the Dominican Republic’s position as a competitive and safe health tourism destination in the face of COVID-19, the Dominican Health Tourism Association (ADTS) and AF Comunicación Estratégica announced the launch of the third edition of the country’s “Health and Wellness Tourism Guide”. The guide will be presented at the 5th International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress, to be held on 9 and 10 June 2021.
The guide, a publication of the Medical Tourism Association (MTA), is a tool that aims to show the international community the country’s main attributes.
About the Destination Guide
ADTS president Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso said this edition “seeks to strengthen the Dominican Republic’s position as a safe destination, setting us apart from our competitors as a nation that has handled the pandemic in a timely way, with a fatality rate lower than most countries in the region, by applying internationally endorsed biosafety protocols and innovating with initiatives such as the safe tourism assistance plan”.
For her part, Amelia Reyes Mora, vice-president of ADTS and president of AF Comunicación Estratégica, a Public Relations firm specialising in health communication, said that “this publication highlights the Dominican Republic as a reliable international medical tourism destination and offers extensive information on the main players in the medical tourism value chain. The initiative is also aligned with the presidential and national development goals of diversifying the country’s tourism portfolio”.
The guide will be published in English and will have wide international distribution and visibility. It is an ideal tool for guiding international patients through the process of choosing a reliable healthcare provider. Readers will find details about health and wellness centres, hospitals, hotels, airports, financial institutions and investment opportunities in the country.
The Dominican Republic as a health destination
The Dominican Republic has a strategic geographical position, an ideal climate, political and social stability, health professionals trained at centres of excellence, and centres that are internationally accredited or in the process of accreditation.
These comparative advantages position the Dominican Republic as the leading health tourism destination in the Caribbean and second in all of Latin America, according to the Medical Tourism Index.
The third edition of the country’s “Health and Wellness Tourism Guide” is a unique opportunity for institutions in the sector to promote their products and services.
Where can you find the guide?
The guide will be available as an eBook on Apple Books and Amazon Kindle. Its full content will also remain on the websites of the Medical Tourism Association, ranked number one in the world in Google searches on health tourism topics.
It will also be on the website of the Dominican Health Tourism Association and at airports and hotels, as well as through the digital channels of the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dominican consulates and embassies abroad.
