Expert highlights the functionality and benefits of MADIH, Macrotech’s digital health division

MADIH offers tools such as electronic health records, hospital management systems and digital prescriptions, which guarantee patient safety and facilitate equitable access to quality health services.

Santo Domingo. – In a notable appearance at the Third International Digital Health Congress 2024, Dr. Omar Luna spoke about the benefits, importance and functionality of MADIH, Macrotech’s digital health division.

Dr. Luna took part in the panel “Lessons from the digital transformation of the health sector in Latin America and the United States”, where he shared his experience of the key role technology plays in the health sector, lessons learned in improving patient care, and strategies for overcoming the barriers that prevent the delivery of equitable and sustainable health services.

The specialist points out that advances in digital health have empowered patients by giving them access to their medical information, making it easier to communicate with health professionals and optimising the management of chronic diseases such as diabetes, through technologies such as Telemedicine and Remote Patient Monitoring. This has had a positive impact on clinical outcomes and on the quality of life of patients with diabetes.

With its participation in the congress, Macrotech reaffirms its commitment to innovation in the health sector, promoting access to technologies that improve patients’ lives and strengthen healthcare systems in the region.

Dr. Omar Luna, currently Senior Regional Digital Health Manager, outlined MADIH’s value proposition for  driving the digitalisation of the health sector in the Dominican Republic and the rest of Latin America through MADIH’s solutions, highlighting its interoperability platform, electronic health records, hospital management system and digital prescriptions, which guarantee patient safety and facilitate equitable access to quality health services.

He stresses that MADIH improves population health outcomes, empowering the health system with data science through interoperability between the different players in the public and private sectors. It is also aligned with the goals of the Pan American Health Organization and the Dominican Republic’s National Digital Health Strategy 2024-2028.

Profile of Dr. Omar Luna

Dr. Omar Luna is a physician and surgeon, specialising in Corporate Wellbeing, with a Master’s in Health Institution Management from Universidad Anáhuac México Norte. He has more than 10 years of experience in digital health in Latin America. In the private sector, Dr. Omar Luna led the sale and implementation of digital solutions for clinical laboratories and hospitals in Mexico, Colombia and Central America. 

In Mexico, he served as Digital Transformation Manager at Latin America’s largest hospital chain, where he led the implementation of clinical modules of hospital management systems, ensuring interoperability for 15 hospitals, as well as artificial intelligence solutions and mobile apps for patients and doctors.
