Huawei meets with journalists: smart education and renewable energy in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo. – Leading information and communications technology company Huawei met with representatives of various media outlets in the Dominican Republic to present its contributions to smart education and renewable energy in the country.
Company executives spoke about how to redefine campus networks, inspiring digital innovation for smart education nationwide, and about the company’s achievements in swappable energy, highlighting how it has established itself locally.
Huawei Smart Education drives ICT talent development in the Dominican Republic and promotes sustainable development centred on Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
Strategic partnerships have been established with institutions such as Infotep, Intec, UASD, PUCMM and ITLA, integrating academic programmes in technology, AI and Datacom. Every year, more than 3,000 professionals are trained in ICT, contributing to the country’s digital transformation. In 2024, eight Dominican students joined Huawei as interns, gaining professional experience in a global environment. Huawei also promotes the integration of ICT with renewable energy, supporting the sustainable development and economic and social progress of the Dominican Republic.
Huawei Digital Power
During the gathering, it was highlighted how the work carried out has positioned Huawei Digital Power as one of the main players in the local renewable energy sector, with more than 700 MW installed in photovoltaic projects and more than 100 MWh awarded in battery energy storage systems (BESS).
The event also presented major projects driven by the brand in the residential, commercial, industrial and utility-scale segments.
