The agreement between IntraCare Center and Fertilam will ensure that patients referred by the cancer clinic can access fertility preservation procedures quickly and effectively.
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic —IntraCare Center and Fertilam Fertility Center today signed a collaboration agreement that will allow cancer patients to preserve their fertility before undergoing treatments such as chemotherapy.
This initiative, launched during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, seeks to protect the reproductive capacity of patients whose cancer treatment may affect their fertility, giving those who wish to have children in the future, after overcoming the disease, an option to do so.
The agreement comes at a key moment, when the importance of offering comprehensive care to cancer patients is increasingly recognised.
Dr. Mario Furcal, Medical Director of IntraCare Center, stressed the importance of this agreement for improving patients’ quality of life.
“Cancer affects not only patients’ physical health but also their emotional wellbeing and personal future. With this agreement, we are expanding our care options so that our patients can preserve their fertility and carry on with their life plans after the disease,” said Furcal.
Ramón López Álvarez, General Manager of Fertilam Fertility Center, highlighted that this collaboration responds to an urgent need in cancer care.
“Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy are essential to save lives, but they can have a significant impact on fertility. With this agreement, we are offering patients the chance to preserve their fertility before starting treatment, ensuring they have the option of starting a family in the future,” said López Álvarez.

This includes egg freezing for women and sperm freezing for men, processes that are essential to safeguard long-term reproductive capacity.
